April 1, it was reported that Apple’s iOS 17.5 Beta 1 is coming soon, which may allow EU users to download apps directly from websites.
According to 9to5mac, a reliable source said that Apple is about to release the first beta version of iOS 17.5, with the internal version number 21F5048f. This source has previously leaked relevant information on the eve of the update release, so iOS 17.5 Beta 1 may arrive this week. In addition, Google Analytics data obtained by 9to5Mac also shows signs that iOS 17.5 is coming.
It is noted that the iOS 17.4 update released on March 5 brought many new features, such as app store selection support for the EU market, new radio show transcripts for Apple Podcasts, improved “Find My Device” and Siri functions, and more new emojis.
It is currently unclear what specific features iOS 17.5 will include. However, Apple previously announced that it will introduce more changes for EU users to comply with the requirements of the Digital Markets Act, one of the major changes being to allow developers to provide app downloads directly through their websites. Apple said this feature will be available in the spring, suggesting that it may be included in the iOS 17.5 update.
