The original Activision Toys for Bob studio has reached an agreement with Microsoft, and the two sides will still cooperate on the first game after the spin-off.
According to Windows Central, the 35-year-old former Activision game studio Toys for Bob, which announced its transformation into an independent studio at the end of last month, will still cooperate with Microsoft to develop the first game after the spin-off.
Toys for Bob independently developed the “Star Control” series of games in the early years and was acquired by Activision in 2005.
In recent years, this veteran studio has launched games such as “Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time” and “Spyro Reignited Trilogy”, and also participated in the content development of “Call of Duty: Warzone” as a supporting studio.
Sources said that Toys for Bob’s corporate culture did not fit with Activision’s strict requirements, so the studio was pleased to reach a spin-off agreement with Microsoft.
According to the report, Matt Booty, head of the Xbox game content department, said that Xbox has reached a cooperative agreement with Toys for Bob on the first game of the latter to become an independent studio again. The new game style will be similar to the previous works of Toys for Bob.
According to the information Windows Central has, Microsoft will continue to hold the copyright of the game series that Toys for Bob participated in the development under Activision, and at the same time provide financial support for the new project of this studio.
